OKC Location: Child Labor Laws for Employers

A teen worker is injured on the job and treated in an emergency room almost every five minutes. Fifty-six percent of injured workers 15-17 years-old in the leisure and hospitality industry required at least one day away from work, and most of these injuries occurred in the food services subsector.  More and more teen workers are entering the workforce, hoping to earn income for that first car, college or to help out with family expenses. As an employer, it’s entirely possible that you will hire young workers, but not every job is right for these new employees who may have little to know experience, and who are vulnerable to hazards in the workplace.

Lester Claravall will provide an overview of the Child Labor Laws in Oklahoma and what employers need to know about the laws and protecting younger workers on the job.
