Effective Safety Management Practices ll (ESMP ll)

Overview

The Effective Safety Management Practices II (ESMP II) course builds on the fundamentals of safety management and provides advanced tools for improving workplace safety programs. Participants learn how to strengthen safety management systems through risk assessment, human and organizational performance strategies, serious injury and fatality prevention, and safety improvement processes. 

This course is designed for professionals who coordinate, supervise, or manage workplace safety efforts and want to improve how their organization identifies risks, measures performance, and prevents incidents. 

This is Day 2 of the in-person ESMP course. This course is part of the Advanced Safety Certificate (ASC) program.

• Understand the difference between safety audits and inspections 

• Identify key elements of a safety management system and audit process 

• Recognize the roles and responsibilities of audit team leaders, audit teams, and audited groups 

• Understand the benefits of managing safety and health efforts effectively 

• Identify insured and uninsured costs related to workplace incidents 

• Calculate total case rates and use safety performance data 

• Conduct cost-benefit analyses to support safety improvements 

• Apply strategies for risk reduction and serious injury and fatality prevention
