OSC Updates & Response to COVID-19

During these unprecedented times, the Oklahoma Safety Council is committed to providing our employees and customers with a safe and healthy work and training environment. OSC continues to monitor the everchanging situation and the CDC and health department recommendations daily to help slow the spread and the impact of COVID-19. Please see below OSC’s updated response to COVID-19 *Updates and policies are subject to change at any time 

January 17, 2022

The Oklahoma Safety Council office in Tulsa is experiencing limited staffing this week. The computer lab is closed today, however, we are making arrangements to have other staff fill in for Tuesday for Contractor Training. Please check in with the Tulsa office prior to any training later this week.

Facial coverings – cloth or surgical masks – continue to be required in OKC and Tulsa facilities. Please come prepared. 

Just a reminder, computer based courses are scheduled at specific times. You must arrive within 15 minutes of your scheduled appoinetment to avoid cancellation of your class. 

Cell phones, smart watches and other electronic devices are strictly prohibited in the computer labs.

January 13, 2022 

The Oklahoma Safety Council office in Oklahoma City the computer lab is CLOSED due to increasing numbers of staff absences due to illness. All I-9 verifications, PAN/PSI Testing and Contractor Training will need to be rescheduled.

The Safeland course on Friday, January 14th will continue as scheduled.

Our goal is to ensure a safe training environment for all students and requiring staff to remain home when ill is part of our current safety plan to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please continue to monitor our social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn for updates.

The Oklahoma Safety Council is working diligently to ensure our staff and customers are provided a safe and healthful work and training environment. But we need your help to minimize potential exposures to COVID-19. During this time, our services continue to be limited, and appropriate safety protocols have been put into place for your protection and ours. We are constantly monitoring conditions and reserve the right to update and/or change this policy without advanced notice. 

For all Training Centers appointments in the computer lab and/or enrollment in an instructor-led course are required to be made in advance. Students MUST arrive within 15 minutes of their scheduled appointment/class time.

STUDENTS MAY NOT ENTER ANY OF OUR FACILITIES IF THEY ARE SICK OR HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS CONSISTENT WITH COVID-19.  PLEASE CALL THE APPROPRIATE TRAINING CENTER TO RESCHEDULE TRAINING.

Oklahoma City Training Center – will be open from 8:30am – 4:00pm Monday-Friday. Facial coverings are welcomed and are strongly encouraged.

OSC Tulsa Training Center – Tulsa will be open from 7:30am – 4pm Monday-Friday. Due to size and capacity of our computer lab in Tulsa, facial coverings/masks continue to be required in the facility, regardless of vaccination status.

OSC Hugo Training Center – Open at 7:00am Monday- Friday. Hugo will be open Saturdays from 8:00-2:00 effective May 22, 2021.

AS ALWAYS, NO CELL PHONES, SMART WATCHES OR OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES ARE PERMITTED IN THE COMPUTER LAB OR DURING BOP.

The Oklahoma Safety Council is working diligently to ensure our staff and customers are provided a safe and healthful work and training environment. But we need your help to minimize potential exposures to COVID-19. During this time, our services continue to be limited, and appropriate safety protocols have been put into place for your protection and ours. See our rules and requirements for entering OSC locations for training and testing HERE.

Beginning the week of June 1, the following protocols will be followed. For all Training Centers appointments in the computer lab and/or enrollment in an instructor-led course are required to be made in advance. Students MUST arrive within 15 minutes of their scheduled appointment/class time. Patrons are asked to wait in their cars until the scheduled check-in/class time.

Please see below our different locations and hours of operation:

OSC Oklahoma City Training Center – OKC will be open from 8 am -4:30 pm on Monday-Friday. No computer lab training may begin after 2:30 pm.

OSC Tulsa Training Center – Starting June 1st, OSC Tulsa will be open from 7:30 am – 4 pm Monday-Friday. Tuesdays and Thursdays are reserved for BOP. Please note: At this time, Tulsa is Restricting CBT Lab Training on Tuesdays and Thursdays to those individuals who are taking the initial Basic Orientation Plus Course. This means: Please DO NOT register your employees for Tuesdays or Thursdays unless they are taking 26BOP first.

No computer lab training may begin after 2:00 pm -Fever checks may be performed. Facial coverings/masks are required to be worn properly at all times.

OSC Hugo Training Center – Open at 7:00 am Monday- Friday.

May 1, 2020  

Beginning the week of May 4, OSC will begin phasing in operations for the foreseeable future. For all Training Centers, appointments are required and you MUST arrive 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled appointment. Please see below our different locations and their limited hours of operation: 

  • OSC Oklahoma City Training Center- Starting Wednesday, May 6 OSC OKC will be open from 8 am -4:30 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. No training may begin after 2:30 pm 

  • OSC Tulsa Training Center – Starting Tuesday, May 5 OSC Tulsa will be open from 7:30 am – 4 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are restricted to CBT classes ONLY. Thursdays are restricted to Basic Orientation Plus students and their site-specific classes.  No training may begin after 2:30 pm -Fever checks may be performed (Holly Frontier Site-Specific classes and corresponding Basic Refreshers will continue to be conducted on-site.)

  • OSC Hugo Training Center – Open at 7:00 am Monday- Friday.  

As we transition back to operations, the Oklahoma Safety Council is working diligently to ensure our staff and customers are provided a safe and healthful work and training environment. But we need your help to minimize potential exposures to COVID-19. During this time, our services will be limited, and appropriate safety protocols have been put into place for your protection and ours. Please follow these rules when coming to OSC for training or testing: 

  • You must have a scheduled appointment or class before you come to OSC. Payment must be received when the class or testing is scheduled. All enrollment must be completed through our website. 

  • If you have scheduled a time in our testing lab, you must arrive within 15 minutes of your scheduled time. 

    • Students who arrive significantly late may not be allowed to enter the lab as we are implementing a staggered training schedule to minimize the number of students in the lab. 

      • No refunds will be issued for students who do not arrive at their designated time. 

    • Students who arrive early should expect to wait in their cars until their scheduled testing time. (Reminder, cell phones, smartwatches, and other electronic communication devices are not permitted in the testing lab. Please leave those in your car.) 

  • If you are sick – no matter what your symptoms – you may not enter the facility. Please call to reschedule your training as soon as possible. If you have been exposed to COVID-19, you must wait a minimum of 14 days before taking a class or test at OSC. Please call to reschedule. 

    • Students who do not call to reschedule will not be issued a refund. 

    • If you appear sick, OSC reserves the right to turn you away 

  • At OSC OKC, students arriving to take a scheduled instructor-led class should enter the building through the North doors which will be opened 15 minutes prior to the start of class. (Look for the orange cones, which will be set out at the entryway to be used.) 

  • Coffee and water will not be provided but students taking instructor-led courses are encouraged to bring their own refreshments. 

  • The lobby area is reserved for staff and computer lab users only. Please use the north entryway to enter and exit the building. Students are asked not to enter the staff office areas. 

  • All students are required to wear a mask and must follow all social distancing, hand sanitation and cough/sneeze protocols recommended by the Centers for Disease Control. 

    • Do not enter employee workspaces or bypass physical barriers that are designed to minimize exposures and protect our staff. 

    • Masks must cover nose and mouth 

  • OSC is limiting the size of classes and the number of students in the testing lab to ensure social distancing and other safety protocols are maintained. We appreciate your cooperation. If you have any questions about our safety protocols, please feel free to email safety@oksafety.org

March 25, 2020 

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, OSC’s Oklahoma City & Tulsa Training Center will close in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order on March 25, 2020, and will remain closed to training until further notice. 

If you have training or testing scheduled your course or test has been cancelled. Staff will be working remotely, and you may contact us at 405-848-8626 or safety@oksafety.org to reschedule or for any questions or concerns.  

We apologize for any inconvenience. Please understand that this is an ever-changing situation and we are working to keep our customers and staff safe. 

March 9, 2020 

Due to heightened health and safety measures, we have enacted the following measures to protect our staff and clients during the COVID-19 outbreak: 

Students who feel sick or who have recently traveled to CDC Level 3 designated countries should cancel their training as soon as they determine they will be unable to attend.  

Anyone who calls to cancel up to the morning of their training session will be issued a refund. Please note, if OSC is not notified by 9:00 am on the day of training, no refund will be issued. 

OSC facilities have been designated as “Hand-Shake free” zones to avoid hand-to-hand transmission of the disease. OSC has stepped up their housekeeping protocols and is continuing to monitor the COVID-19 outbreak in our area. 

While you are visiting OSC Facilities (or wherever you go), please follow these good hygiene practices: 

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds 

  • Alcohol-based hand sanitizer should be used if soap and water are not available 

  • Avoid touching your mouth, nose, or eyes; avoid shaking hands 

  • Cover coughs/sneezes with your arm or a tissue (dispose of tissues promptly) 

  • Get adequate sleep and eat well-balanced meals to ensure a healthy immune system 

  • Clean and disinfect frequently-touched objects and surfaces 

  • Avoid exposure to others who are sick 

  • Stay at home if you are ill (unless instructed to visit a health-care professional) 

We are currently limiting class sizes to no more than 9 students, and are practicing social distancing in the classroom and computer labs. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding and encourage you to check back periodically for the latest information.
